Red Lady Glades Track (3/24/21, 10:12:07AM)
Excellent outing with Jon Jonis, filled with great open glades. Avy risk was low at and near tree line. The few higher angle areas that we traversed on the skin up were on a road in dense trees and safe. These south-facing glades should be great for skiing on winter or early spring days when the new snow hasn’t baked and turned into crust, should also be good corn skiing in mid to late spring season so long as you summit early before risks of wet slabs.
Next time find improved access off Coal Creek road as the skin track we laid for Tyne first 1,000 feet were very steep. I also added a way point just below the triangle where we also broke and unnecessarily steep skin track.
When avy risk is low above tree line it would be super fun to have climbed up another 500 or more feet and enjoyed the beautiful bowl above our transition point.
