Hike up Mt. Langley, starting at Cottonwood Lake #1 camp site, going up New Army Pass, eventually to the summit after some misderection and then down Old Army Pass. It was really beautiful. Loose sandy terrain for the last approximately 2 miles to the summit is a bit of a challenge. Despite all of the negative internet chatter, Old Army Pass is fine. And after summiting, the last thing I wanted to do was tack on some more altitude on the way up to New Army Pass. Could imagine with some snow it would be a bit more scary right at the top. Stopped and chatted with several folks along the way back, and forgot to turn the track off... oops. Hence the very long stopped time and overall length. This can pretty easily be done in 5 hours or so round trip if you avoid my lengthy detour along the rocky palisade before the summit and don't get super chatty!
