Track (2/12/20, 9:56:09AM)
As we sat in our warm dry homes this morning....the decision to hike was touch-and-go for a while....was it going to rain or was it going to clear up?? Were we hiking or not?? We finally decided the rain had "gone east" & we were hiking!! We 6 "hardies" began our 3 hour (4 mile) hike at Sunset at 10am & followed Elks Girls Trail to Madonna where Lan led us toward Fawn Creek. We skipped going up to Madonna b/c of slippery & wet rocks but ended up seeing some fantastic rock formations on this new-to-us adventure. Brenda led us straight to Fawn Creek whether she knew it or not. As we ate our lunch at Fawn Creek Youth Camping area, it was still chilly b/c we were pretty wet from creeks & walking thru rain-soaked grass/brush so we made the lunch break brief. From there Peggy led us back to Elks Girls trail to our vehicles arriving at 1pm. We thank Lynda for storing the Valentine decorations all year, remembering where she stored them & bringing them today for a group pic. Tammy Powell Woolems started this tradition with us about 3 years ago & we liked the idea, so we try to continue it every Valentines' Time. We also were SO glad to once again hike with Bonnie who has been living in El Paso for a couple years. SHE IS BACK!! She brought all of us an infinity chiffon Valentines scarf for pics. It was a super hike.... We didn't have to worry about getting sun-burned or snake-bit!!! :) Our Tenacious Trail Trekkers today were: Lan Doan, Peggy Avants, Bonnie Roberts McMahon, Lynda Trapp, Brenda Mohler, Teddy Worthington. Thanks to all who braved the elements (36-46 degrees) & came..
