11/19/21: departed Neil gap around 9 AM cold and windy morning 30 to 40° with significant wind. Warmed up around 10 AM and wind subsided. Hike was moderately strenuous, around 7 miles to Hogpen gap. Couple good overlooks along the way camped about 100 yards past the road crossing at Hogpen Gap. Good spot with plenty of space, although somewhat exposed to the wind. Wind picked up during the night and temperature dropped significantly near or at freezing. Hannah woke up ill, neither of us slept well. Decided to call Janelle to pick us up at Hogpen Gap. People were ice climbing down the road from the gap!
