This is a spectacular hike near Hastings cave This trailhead took some finding - Creekton Falls via Duckhole Lake The road is 1.6 km before Hastings visitor centre, on the right. There’s no sign but it’s Tughannah Road, go past Facy road which is on the right (also unsigned) continue to the junction and turn right onto Creekton Road, continue to the intersection and turn right. There’s a bridge closed to cars but you can walk across it and Duckhole trail begins there on the left. 2.1 km to Duckhole - suitable for families, loads of fungi and it is very beautiful- ferns and tannin stained creek run beside the clearly marked path. The trail continues to Creekton Falls. The trail is relatively obvious but keep your eyes peeled for pink tape. There’s a creek crossing and we got a little lost on the other side as a big tree has come down across the track. The trail is fairly close to the creek until the falls. There’s a lot of clambering over fallen trees or under them making this part of the hike quite strenuous. Wear proper hiking boots and gear - it’s slow going and wet even on a nice day. There’s more fungi - the best array I’ve ever seen on a single walk The falls are lovely but wear your coat- you can get right to the base and it’s quite soggy! Retrace your steps! If you only make it to Duckhole you won’t be disappointed! This took us about 5 hours with quite a bit of photo taking. Follow along on Holistic Hiker on FB and Instagram
