Loved this hike. Arrived at 11am with 4 other cars at the trailhead on a Tuesday. Bumpy road up, and be sure to have your maps downloaded offline…google sent me up a wrong forest road for a few minutes. Used Gaia GPS to find my way back. First mile is a tame slowly ascending trail in the shade. Then about a half mile of steepish switchbacks amidst wildflowers and huckleberry bushes (no berries yet). It then evens out to slow grade up to the butte and lookout amidst meadows and a variety of conifers. Views for days from atop the lookout. I ended up running the final mile back which shaved time, but all in all a good workout and varied terrain. Was back to the lot by 12:30.
