3/10/24: Day one very cold start out of Unicoi gap. Stepped off about 8:46 AM first ascent about 800 feet to Rocky Mountain then down 100 feet second ascent up 1400 feet to trey mountain all within about 3 1/2 miles ended day at Sassafras gap about 5pm and 10.4 miles. good spot for camping. There were about eight other hikers there Cold windy night down to freezing ice chunks in water bottle next morning.
