This trip was a 2 night - 3 day backpacking experience that begins and ends at Bandy Creek. We parked at the swimming pool parking lot and the trail head is across the road. The trek catalogued all of the camping and water source opportunities on the route. Many of the waypoints that I added to GAIA are not accurate, but the waypoints for the pictures look good. We staged water before the hike by driving back Alfred Smith Road and hiding gallons of water. There is limited water available on the plateau area of the hike and this extra effort made this trip workable. Very beautiful area. We hiked clockwise giving the first day the majority of the elevation changes. Each day was a little over 10 miles. The first night we had to make a leave no trace campsite near the end of Duncan Hollow Road (no water). We filtered water from the Laurel Fork creek prior to making the climb out of the valley. The second night of camping was spent near the Angel Falls overlook (no water). We used the water we stashed a few days prior. There are not a great many large campsites. I recommend groups no larger than 4 tents. Many of the sites we passed would not accommodate 3 tents. Plan well and go have fun.
