Went the wrong way and took the lower trail. Peaceful solitude. Did not make it up to the ridge, trail was covered in snow above 4500’. Will be back again in a few when wildflowers are blooming to try to do the full hike!

This is a very difficult hike for beginners, but it’s very well worth it once reaching the peak of pine mountain. Would highly recommend, just be very well prepared to stumble upon limbs of deer and such, I didn’t encounter any predators, however there were dung piles of some. I didn’t see anything that would suggest snake presence.

Even though Ahtanum Valley and State Forest is primarily used for off road vehicles, there are good trail options here for hikers if you know where to look. This one is 3.5 miles up to top of Whites Ridge, starting at Tree Phones CG. The views above are lovely and there are many options to explore further if you feel inclined.
