This is a beautiful diverse 4wheel drive trail through a pine forest and aspens groves offering beautiful fall cover. It takes you to the top of Mt Patterson at 11,675 feet. Amazing views throughout the entire trail.

This hike was amazing! Views, views, and more views! The road up to the trailhead does require a high clearance vehicle. There is no snow on the trail at all. YES like everyone says do the trail CLOCKWISE! You do need trek poles coming down Job’s Sister! Glad I had mine and my knee braces! So happy I can say I have officially done the Tahoe Triple Crown!!

With all the motorized traffic side by sides ripping around dust noise it’s no a place to enjoy nature for sure go somewhere else if you like serenity !

Gate locked on Barney Riley near Markleeville and the entrance shown here is closed due to snow. Locals have said that the gate in Markleeville has been locked for at least 3 years now, and the private property owner has wielded guns at people trying to cross.

Awesome trail! Rocky and technical. Did it in a 5th gen 4runner with slight mods (tires and skids, but no lift). Definitely hit the skids a few times. Something to note here: when you get to the wooden cabin, the trail here says to go left up the mountain, which is significantly longer and more difficult than going across the marshy area. So, if it hasn't been raining, and you're just trying to get to the springs, take the marshy road (can see it on the map) and save yourself some time and trail damage.

Risue Road has not yet melted out for the season. Patches were snowy enough that it did not feel safe to drive them, so I turned around.

Great fall hike. Beautiful colors today. Start at the Kiosk on the south end to get the switch backs behind you first & the most elevation gain. Stop at the Genoa State Park for lunch afterwards.

This is an easy up and back along Thomas creek. It is especially pretty in the fall. It is about 2 miles to reach the bridge as a turn around point. You can go back or go to the cut off and head up to dry pond or continue to the upper Thomas trail.

just did it with my F150 on 35s, The descending part was difficult. Took it low and slow and I made the trip from start to finish in apx. 2 hours with many gnarly close calls. Im not experienced but I had an experienced spotter and that helped. A guy in a rav4 awd came down it the next day and completely destroyed his brand new car. He just slid down all the rocks in a panic i think.

We took Jeeps on this trail and it was nice. Not hard at all and did not require 4WD. Any SUV could likely do this trail.

Much better route to access the East Fork Carson River. Smoother, by passes 3 private property gates. Much quicker. Highly recommend new way to access the river!

There’s beauty to be seen and experienced in every direction. The PCT goes right by the lakes and hikers come and go daily. Some overlanders come thru for a night or a few days. Come here mid week if possible, as it gets busier on the weekends.

This is a popular loop for hikers, bikers, and occasionally horses. The 1000 feet of elevation gain is rather gradual up to Dry Pond with several switch backs. The views are nice. Dry Pond is a meadow that is basically, dry. So don’t go for the pond. Go for Thomas and Whites Creeks. They provide beautiful scenery along the lower trails. To make it a loop you do have to hike along Timberline road to connect the two trail heads. Some may choose to do point to point with two cars to avoid the walk along the road.

Great drive with many off shoot roads that could be a potential hike in solitude during the week. Weekends are busy. Crystal Peak Mine is a place to take kids where they can dig for crystals. There is also a dirt road that joins Dog Valley Road at the top before dropping down to Verdi & this road connects to the Reservoir.

This was the wildest single track trail these baby boomers (almost senior citizens) have riden! Amazing ride, technical, some NARROW spots, not for the faint of heart. We made it, take lots of water, start early.

I have often hiked the Jones Creek trail, but only to the summit. Yesterday I completed the Jones/White Creek Loop. I climbed the Jones Creek side then came down Whites Creek. You will pass through Aspen glades, cedar and pine forests. Lots of wild flowers. White Creek is running fast now with the snow melt but is passable crossing the log bridges. I would suggest the use of trekking poles.

June 9, 2019. Nice hike & training climb to the Church Pond Summit Saddle at 8000 ft. There are six switchbacks along a well traveled trail through the forest with enough shade to stop if needed & cool a bit. If you take your dog, the temperature should not be over 60° as they have no way to cool their bodies & creek water is limited. I think the gain is at least 1800 ft & to get ready for some outdoor event it can be used to get a good workout. Some friends of mine who were training for Mt. Shasta would climb it 3 times to try to match the elevation gain on Shasta, which is a lot.

Nice Springtime hike out of Genoa. I combined parts of the Genoa Trail Loop to the Eagle Ridge Trailhead. Temperature was pleasant and wind was light. Creek crossings were easy except for one and it had an improvised hand rail to assist in crossing the fastest running creek.
