I went on the auto trail. The only thing I could say that needs upgrade is the singage and and markers saying that this is the right trail that you are supposed to be on got kind or confusing but we made it and had fun doing it…

Great drive. Beautiful overlook at crystal mountain. Fairly easy trail, when the ground is hard.

Took my Ford raptor on the trail and had a blast. Great view of the lake at the end of the main trail. Many different trails you can go off on along the way. Not a difficult trail at all almost any vehicle could do this without any issues.

We had a wonderful time riding the trails on our horses. The owners are great people. The atmosphere is very hospitable. The stalls and campsites are well maintained. There is extra things for the campers such as picnic tables, fire pits, hitching post, steps for getting on your horse, and a pavilion. The pavilion is packed with movies, big screen TV, cozy heat, plenty of seating, singing, games, full kitchen, ice, and showers. The trails are marked with ribbon, using a map or downloading an GPS app.
Thank you for a good weekend.
We will be back!

Some tall climbs passing the falls to a lookout point. Then from there roads to the other trails and lookout point. Back to Orange to Pink to camp. Would have been alot of water crossings but we’ve been in a bad drought

Horseback riding*
We ride the purple up to the falls and back down to Blue then to camp. It was a hike in some areas but still pretty moderate. There were some spots on the trail to open horses up to stretch out.

Horseback riding*
We rode to the cemetery. We skipped the red that comes to blue before you cross the creek due to logging being done at the time we were here. But this ride is a great ride. It’s between easy and moderate. Few hills but nothing terrible and it was a good 9 mile if including the red loop after crossing the creek. The cemetery was super cool.

Up to the top of the mountain where the telephone towers are. Very steep straight up type of ride then straight back down. Quick loop. Bout 5.5 ish miles. We did it day one of arriving at camp when the horses were fresh lol

Spent over 4 hours out here on the UTV. Nothing too hard and was able to stay in 2wd the entire time. Really appreciate this app showing this trail near me while on vacation

Really nice drive with lots of twists and turns. Nothing really tough, but there are a couple of small water crossings.

What a lesser know treat of a trail system. Coming in not knowing much we were delighted with the scenery, campsite prevalence, water access, fishing, etc. Great trip.

Easy two mile in and back on juts part of the Eagle Rock Loop and Viles Branch trail. Great fall day with plenty of water in the creeks and river.

This was a fun place to ride. The trails are very technical for a horse. The trails are listed as horse trails but it is mixed in with a lot of hikers. Trails are Difficult. Have a very calm horse and one in shape. Shoes are required to ride here. lots of river crossings and very rocky

My wife and I hiked this loop in March. We took our time and it took most of a day to hike. We started at Caney Creek trailhead and hiked Caney Creek Trail to the junction with Buckeye Mtn Trail. Took Buckeye Mtn Trail and hiked to that trail’s trailhead and then walked Forest Service road back to Caney Creek trailhead. We had a good time and there are some great views and pretty country. We will probably hike this loop again.

Pretty country. I hiked Eagle Rock Loop, starting and ending at Little Missouri Falls trailhead, in December. Its a great hike but all the crossings would be problematic/dangerous if river was up. River gauge at Langley was around 3.4 feet when hiked and only had to wade (knee deep) on the two southernmost crossings. There is reliable water sources throughout the loop. Started at 9:30am on a Sunday morning and finished around noon on Tuesday. Only saw about 10 other hikers on trail. During Spring and Fall, I think loop is pretty crowded. I’ll definitely hike this trail again.

Start of trail is mild and easy overlanding. End of trail is very hard at Poteau Mountain. Very technical off-roading requiring winches and boards.

Very challenging but fun ride on a 4 wheeler. Stick to the path and look at the map ahead of time and enjoy.

Oct 24 I completed the trail solo in under two days. Started at 10:30am from little Missouri trailhead went counter clockwise and finished around 6pm (14:3miles) and set up camp 2 miles in Viles Branch. I did this to get some of the flats out of the way and knock out the mountains on Athens Big Fork. On day 2 I started around 8:30am and finished at 2:40pm (14miles) completing a total of 28miles. The right side of the trail is mixed with hilly and flat portions, and in my opinion easier to do. Tough and beautiful trail overall. I didn’t bring water sandals because I didn’t mind getting my shoes/foot wet but near the end I started getting blisters. I would have brought sandals if I planned to stay longer to avoid any foot pain. In the mornings and near trailheads I would encounter groups with 3-5 people every hour or so. In the afternoon I would see people every 2-3 hours. It was a well trafficked trail.
This was my 2nd time this year, the first I did in August and was unable to finish. Water levels were low both times so the water crossings were relatively easy. I would check the water levels before going on the hike. Spiders and other insects were sparse compared to August and I think it’s because there was a lot more people on the trail enjoying the October weather. Plenty of streams to refill water and campsites. The terrain was overall rocky, I did a shoe change the 2nd time around to help dampen the feeling of rocks poking my feet.

Some deep ruts from water runoff. Mostly easy lots of small sharp rocks. Air down. Ends in deep woods disbursed camping site with no view.

Fun alternate route home for those back home to DFW area from Broken Bow.

This is one of my favorite Jeep trails. It is especially beautiful the first week of November when the leaves are at their peak color.

Easy stroll, paved and little or no incline. Cute river bridge and water flow.

Awesome but tricky loop, finished in 2.5 days. Water shoes/sandals and trekking poles highly recommended, even crossings that look easy can end with soaked boots, socks, or packs. Lots of trails will turn into streams with moderate rain so tread carefully. Great campsites and lots of water sources for a filter which cuts down on weight. Too much trash though, very disappointing to see so many fire pits full of it; please pack it out, trash is so light!!!

Fun 2-day hike with friends and kids in the late winter of 2017. I have hunted and fished this area most of my live, but had never hiked these trails.

This trail is closer to 28 miles than 25. Great multi day hike.

Started out at the Athens big fork trail head at the upper left side of the map, and went counter clockwise which led to doing the most elevation on the first day. I would recommend this. We did 8 miles, 12 miles, and 7 miles through 3 days/2 nights. Bring a good water filter and water shoes for the water crossings.

Our first off road trail. A little over growth that we had to trim, but was a fun beginner course with good muholes.

Just completed the loop counter-clockwise from the northwest trail-head where Athens-Big Fork meets Little Missouri Trail (2020-06-10 to 12). Lots of tree cover and plenty of clear running water in all of the creeks. Abundant campsites. Great views. Would love to do it again in the fall with our dogs.
Tons of trash! Pack! It! Out! FFS. I expect to see trash left in camps that can be reached easily from the roads, but I really expected better from fellow backpackers. There were piles of trash most of the back-country fire pits. Filled all of my spare bags within the first 15 miles.

Mostly dirt roads travel through the National Forest. Many camp sites along the route. Very easy traveling. The muddy spots were very few and I only put it in 4wd as a precaution. Easy enough for a car or truck pulling a fifth wheel trailer to get through. There are some trails off of this main route, just compare with the MVUM to stay legal.

The first 2/3 is great! Lots of good trail and easy driving. Some fun mud sections and technical inclines as well. The last 1/3 of the out and back was mostly small limbs and trees scraping my car. Surface stuff so not a big deal but the screeching gets old after awhile.
Loved the ride and I’ll do it again once I’m back in town.
