Proper mountain climbing that’s gets your blood flowing. Free soloed the whole summit was very chill as an average experience climber

Incredible that I had most of the waterfalls to myself! It’s a scenic byway with very accessible waterfalls, dense forest and some good thigh burning hills (depending on the way you take it.
Went with the fun ride down first and then ass kicking later. It helps doing the elevation gain while hitting the waterfalls to give yourself breaks.
Definitely best to do first thing in the morning to mitigate the dangerz of traffic.
Side note the Jack road fire was going on 7/17/21. Cool to be seeing all the fire engines.

Had been to several of these areas before, never linked them all together until today!

Would give it 5 stars, but it gets crazy hard and dangerous near the top. Quite a bit is smoke haze today but still could see Bachelor and Broken Top, probably 80+ miles away.

No reservations available. Showed up Friday morning and the horse camp was full of hikers. Luckily the rental corrals let us park in their parking lot. We planned to high line but not possible where we were so we rented a couple corrals from the rental horse business. The second night when we went to check on the horses we had to repair their pen. The corrals are in need of a lot of repair. We were lucky we caught it before bed time. The group I went with is pretty handy and not too intimidated by a few down trees. We gave it our best go but we’re blocked. Hopefully next year the will be maintained.

This was a motorcycle ride from highway 42, to Crater Lake, up the North Umpqua Highway. Drop dead beautiful along the river and through the forest zones to Crater Lake and back.

Really great hike with a little bit of rock climbing if you want to summit. Was there in mid September and weather was great overall. Unfortunately some clouds moved in while at the top so no views. But when we were below the clouds you have great views to Crater Lake.
Be sure to bring climbing gear (and know how to use it) if you want to get to the top.
