This is a super secret way to walk into the trails near the saddle from this neighborhood! It is a good trail, just not marked on any map.

It was a beautiful sunny Sunday morning. The trail was in good condition. It’s wide enough in most places to walk side-by-side. All hikers had masks on and kept a respectful distance at the appropriate times. The trail is short enough that we went twice around.

Started off busy at the bottom but the road was quite and the Section 36 Loop E was all but deserted.

Starts in parking lot near Peavey Arboritum Main Entrance: see website.
It passes through an intensive growth forest of some interest largely because it has little or no understory. With only a couple of hills of short duration it provides several loops back. Most of the woods are varied and have many birds to discover. It crosses Calloway Creek twice and has Crohnmuller Lake up a short spur from where there are several alternate trails, the most notable being the Powderhouse Trail.
I like this trail for it's variety almost all in the woods. You can get away from kids and dogs by going further in, but I enjoy meeting and passing people on such a hike. Dogs are allowed under control; the trails are clean.
Near Corvallis this trail is the best in Peavey, It has trillium first in the spring with many other flowers in the season. It's a good daily or weekly walk most of the year. Good for an after work or weekend walk most days.
