Nice ride, footing is excellent for horses. Several bluffs and rock overhangs. No streams or water for the horses but in general a good ride. We rode after a heavy rain. If it was dry the trail offers several opportunities for gaiting and moving out over varied terrain.

This is a very good place to backpack. Water was scarce in the late fall season. Bring metals removing filtration kit to use the puddle water in this area.

I thought the trail was well maintained and well marked, particularly the more distant sections of the trail. Strangely there were some trees down on the beginning northwest quarter of the trail, closer to the parking lot. Fortunately I did not encounter any ticks, although I noted sections of the trail where they might be an issue at other times of the year. I was surprised to see numerous groves of eastern hemlocks.

Nice quick overnighter with great scenery, more ups and downs than I expected.
