The trail starts wide and wonderful but then it gets awful. Straight up a wet creek bed. Nothing but rocks and roots and mud. Lots of time spent bushwhacking off trail to get around the deeper water. The view is amazing though

Excellent hike. Very rugged terrain don’t underestimate the time needed.

Thu was such a beautiful hike. They were some hard spots however the view of lake George was worth the hike.

This 7 mile loop was hard work. There was definitely a payoff for that hard work. The summit was an amazing 180 view of Lake George. The only reason I don’t give this review 5 stars is because there is some sort of wind mill at the peak that makes a lot of noise when the wind is blowing and the wind is always blowing at the summit.

It was April 11th 2020 during the COVID 19 “Shelter-in-Place” order. We hiked in from Hogtown parking lot to Bumps Pond. We arrived at about 9am on a sunny but windy Saturday. We knew the trail would be busy to Sleeping beauty summit so we avoided the main trail. It was a nice hike. Trekking poles are a must. Lots of water in the trail. Lots of traffic on the main trail coming back. Start this hike at sun up to avoid the crowds.

Early spring conditions. Muddy, snow and ice. Not a bad hike by any means just be prepared

Day after heavy rains. I'm not running water on the trail, mind, and leaves. Still a great hike, always awesome to you. Go down just for the rain started. Will do again before the snowfalls.

We built this trail and are waiting on the DEC to give us permission to mark the upper parts with trail markers and do trail improvements. The early part is on the Harris Land Preserve and is permanent. For some reason the surveying tape was taken down and the hikers that were trying to follow the trail got lost and did not make the summit. We fixed some of the survey tape and also broke trail, so that it is now easy to follow, at least until the next major snow storm. Hopefully it will officially open in spring 2019.
