Great trail, plenty of birds to see, occasional squirrels and chipmunks. We ran across 3 grass snakes, even heard the mustangs running around. That day we were the only people out there.

This little hike starting at the top of Creat Trail is a lot of fun! The views are beautiful, there were som many flowers in bloom (July 9th), and the turn off to Telephone Pole Trail sits in a saddle with a couple huge trees - a great photo opp and chance to sit in the shade!

This was the road to Monument Canyon trailhead. You may have to walk it as the quality wasn’t good.

Best to park at Avis cematary make the ride less rocky and at least a mile shorter

Nice gravel/rocky trail. It’s mostly shaded, wide, with very little narrow or extreme steepness. I went at sun up and heard lots of bugling elk but only saw one. Hummingbirds were everywhere in the first half mile or so. There are a couple of nice views but mostly your in a thicket tunnel the majority of the trip. No water feature either thus only three stars.
Beware-if I wasn’t using my Gaia guided app I would have missed a few turns and would probably still be out on the trail somewhere.

Rode up Bell Canyon to get my legs back under me, and work on climbing preparing for the NM bike packing trip. Got back to the Padres Casa just in time, the rain started about 15 minutes after getting home by 12:15z. Torrential downpour at 1:30 brought 1.5 inches of rain in about a half hour!

Good scenery and easy trail. Been here before. A lot of deadwood piled up but trail in great condition otherwise.

Good hike that stays close to the lake. Small changes in elevation. Path is uneven and flat. Not exactly a walk. Beautiful hike.

This has been the best off-roading that I have found in the area. I can’t give it 5 stars because it isn’t the best “hike” I’ve ever been on, but it’s the best I’ve been on in this area. Some fun little climbs with loose rock/dirt, washouts (it was incredibly dry), and some solid views as well. Nothing too extreme, great for a novice to off-roading. Snow/rain would make this a blast.
Note: I’ve done some of the big name trails (black bear pass, hell’s revenge etc), this is not comparable to that. I’d rate it a 1-4 out of 10. High clearance/4x4 needed on some offshoots off of the main road. Lots of area to camp.

Some decent off-roading for the area. Nothing terribly technical when dry. I’d imagine it’s great with snow or rain.

Awesome hike. Very pretty through the canyon and does not disappoint at the peak. Few markers have fallen but still easy to navigate with the app.

Up one canyon then on crest trail with beautiful view of western valley then down another canyon. Fairly well shaded most of the way. Running water in both canyons. Oct 2020.

I loved the remoteness, shaded trail and view of the historic train trestles. The first 2/3rd of the hike is gorgeous. The last 1/3rd is through a canyon with power/phone lines. Ok but not as scenic.

The trail goes around the campground and it’s nice but you can hear traffic. The trail literally goes past what appears to be a surface mine and there was an incredible amount of dust in the air. NOT appealing.

The Rim Trail from Sun Spot to Cloud Croft is a great 1 day push for the hiking enthusiast. Great trail, views to spare and the trail has few stretches of exposure. Look forward to hiking again with the additional 9 miles added to the lower end and complete the whole Rim Trail in a single push. Great trek!

Easy some rocks but was barefoot and not bad. Have to go around one camp ground due to fence. Go up and over the mountain

Beautiful views of sharp mountain rises. Good trail a bit steep in places and I Would classify moderate difficulty. Overall beautiful.

Good short and fast loop. Not technical at all. If it wasn’t so fast it’d be a pretty boring trail but you can throw it in to the race loop or other trails to make a nice addition to your ride.

Nice nice ride not many rocks. No steep grades whet into fenced pasture just pass ScottAble Canyon went to end of pasture great overlook. Then stayed north /right. Came back to Aqua Chiquita turned right and stayed parrell to road. Had to group awooded hill but came out on A c rocky for a while then whet back into the Canyon. Came to a tank and kept alongside the road back to trailer

Decent hike for myself, my wife and our 8 and 6 year old son. I carried my 7 month old in my pack and we finished the trail and with some gas in the tank and only a few stops along the way.

I wouldn’t recommend doing this hike. There is just too much deadfall and thorn bushes to make this hike enjoyable. The views are nice though. It’s not physically hard but it is very mentally exhausting. Definitely wouldn’t do it on a windy day if you don’t want a tree to fall on you.
