Awesome Loop. Pretty technical on the Jordan River Trail side. Nice vistas for the lower peninsula, varied topography.

One big hill, a few streams, a beaver dam, and lots of ticks. Pretty good morning hike. 8.5 miles almost all wooded. I would do it again.

I like to hike the starting at the Pinney bridge and follow the trail south East all the way to Jordan River Rd. I just follow the road back Penny bridge to mar truck. There are lots of hills and streams. It doesn’t get boring! It’s about 10.5 miles.

Sunny and mid to high 30’s, but there was a lot of snow on the ground and we were the first hikers on the trail since some heavy snowfall, so we had to blaze our own trail for most of the hike. This hike was extremely daunting and challenging trudging through all that snow, and we were absolutely exhausted halfway thru. It took us a lot longer than we anticipated and we ended up hiking at least 3 hours in the dark before finally reaching camp. The blue blazes that marked the trail seemed in abundance when it was light, but in the dark we found them to be too spaced out and we kept thinking we missed the trail. Overall this route was very scenic with numerous river and valley views. We also saw a bald eagle during the hike along with numerous other small birds. The campground was untouched and the snow was quite deep.
