About 30 minutes south of main city New Orleans.
Two separate areas of hiking. A smaller area south of highway 45 where the visitor center is located and a larger one with what’s called plantation trails north of the highway. The southern part is all boardwalks and currently (2/2024) rather tiny as most of it is closed off for repairs. Skip the visitor center- equally small and not worthwhile.
The plantation trails are nice and saw several Armadillos. Folks on trail also told me that they saw alligators but I did not. Trails are easy but at times muddy depending how far you go.
