Trail was recently cleared 9/2024 about halfway to the three-prong trail junction. Pretty steep but beautiful views over an old burn.

I must be one of the only people to attempt this trail on foot this year. Unfortunately it is very overgrown, probably a consequence of all the rain we got this year. If something isn't done this will no longer be a trail. There is very thick brush going over the trail to the point where in many parts there is no trail visible. The woods are taking over this trail! Too bad because I could only make it about 2.5 miles and just could not push through and bushwack any further.

The Selway River Trail is easily one of my top 3 favorite trails in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. It’s an easy going saunter along the shores of a full river carving it’s way through the mountains. White, sandy beaches with campsites every couple of miles dot this river trail which runs for 30 miles or so to the Moose Creek Ranger Station and airstrip. Beautiful. Worth the effort. Extraordinary.
