The beauty is amazing. HOWEVER, make sure you have PLENTY of water on trail after waterfall. All the rivers are dry. No water for miles and miles.

Well maintained and regularly groomed trail. Could use better signs to show the route, but you follow the groomed tracks you’re good.

An easy hike from Upper Mesa Falls parking lot to Lower Mesa Falls and back. You have to go all the way to the falls to really appreciate the majesty.

The descent from the towers to McCoy Creek Road is pretty gnarly. Definitely black diamond in some sections. I thoroughly enjoyed the ride, and made a loop from Jackknife Road.

Such a fun ride in the RZR. Too bad there’s so many private roads in Island Park that dead end.

This is my favorite hike because it is very short and easy. The ascent was very small and the 30 miles was to easy.

This was a great hike . We parked in the Mike Harris day lot and walked down the road to the start of the happy hour trail . The trail splits not even a mile in and we took the Mike Sell trail roughly 3 or so miles where it splits again . Stay left to stay on Mike sell. The trail levels off and goes through some beautiful open meadows with lots of wildflowers . Using the app we left the Mike sell trail and headed up Oliver peak . There is a pretty definitive trail to the left but you need to look for it . It will become obvious as you start to walk through the sage brush .It is definitely steep and is about .5 miles to the top . There is a Little Rock Cairn at the top and the views of the valley and snake river range are amazing . We reversed course and went back the way we came . It was roughly 9.5 miles RT and 2400 feet of elevation gain . Parts of the hike are in the sun so bring plenty of water ( there is none on this hike ) and sunscreen . This took about 5 hours . Plan to have lunch at the top !

This is a great bike ride with a fantastic view on top. Also enjoyed the alternative road back. Lots of forest and wildlife. Less than 800ft elevation gain. Lots of cows nearby so be patient.

Beautiful hike! Recommend parking in the 1st parking area (across from the camp ground entrance) especially if your driving a larger vehicle/truck. The parking by the trail head can get nuts and cars can get blocked in.
Moderate hike following the Palisades Creek back up into the canyon. Steep, thick forested canyon walls are present the entire hike. Roughly 4.3 miles to lower palisades lake with about 1050 feet of ascent. From Lower Palisades, it's about 2.5 miles of trail to get to Upper Palisades lake.
Well maintained trail, can get pretty busy.

Beautiful hike! Lot of smoke in the area, which gave off a really cool red tint to the area.

Moderate hike. follows palisades creek back up into the canyon. about 4.3 miles to lower palisades lake with about 1,050feet of elevation gain. another 2.5 to 3 miles more to get to upper palisades lake.

Trail head started near summit of Mt Sawtell at10,000 ft, then dropped 5 miles into a former glacial circ ! Rating, difficult but views are truly spectacular ! Trail is on spine of the continental divide! Bring bear spray.

Only did the first 40 min of the trail. Part was starting to be overgrown with oak brush. Not much open scenery. Forested 95% of the way. Almost no parking room at the end of a rough road.

This is a beautiful hike along a stream with a few water crossings and plenty of shade. The trail is notorious for having a protective mother moose so be on the look out. We saw momma moose down in the creek, so we kept to the trail and kept a safe distance. Lots of butterflies and grasshoppers this time of year. Many of the hillside flowers and grasses in the sun are brown. Relatively flat and not to difficult a climb. The trail is narrow and would be ideal for mountain bikers.

Incredibly difficult uphill rocky hike with dust along the way and very little shade. Straight up and straight down. Nice views and overlooks with some trees at the very bottom and very top. Lizards, and butterflies, saw a momma moose and baby moose across the valley on the other mountain. 5out of 5 on difficulty, 3 out of 5 on beauty. Nice wide trails that also allows for atv travel.

This is a long hike with an incredibly beautiful lake at the end. So awesome filled with wildlife, deer, moose, and lots of water. The trees and cliffs makes for nice shade through the trails. I’m so proud of my entire family being able to go up and back in a full day of hiking and playing at the lake.

This was an incredible hike with lots of tree coverage, several streams and a spring. Even a spot we call the Licorice forest where the smells are wonderful. We were able to summit the ridge at the “divide” and look down and see McCammon and Lava Hot springs. We did have a close encounter with a rattle snake near the 1st over look.

For a ski resort trail it doesn’t get any better. Starts out at the base and heads up and north till the first cairn. The views here are awesome of South Leigh Canyon. From here pretty much up and rocky to top. The next cairn has beautiful picture worthy views of the Grand Teton. Lunch at the top in our crazy creek chairs overlooking Beards Wheatgiel and more amazing views of all the Tetons etc.

Campground is quite large, but each campsite is very secluded.
Cost is only $15.00 per night
