This 0.4 mile loop trail near the Royal Palm Visitor Center is shaded and paved. The unique gumbo limbo trees are the most interesting vegetation along the path. The short walk is worth your time but not a scenic as the nearby Anhinga Trail.

This is a short loop trail right off the main road from the Everglades Visitor Center to Flamingo. The path is asphalt, but the vegetation along the sides of the trail has not been well maintained and makes the trail narrow at spots. The most interesting features of the trail are the solution holes.

We counted 74 alligators on the trail. I recommend you start on the west side and come back the east side. The observation tower is interesting looking, but the water fountain wasn’t working. Consider asking before you start. It took our family of 6 (kids 9, 7, 6, and 3) about 2.5 hours to make the loop.
