There are plentiful large dinosaur bones in many spots. Signage underestimates what is there! One spot had 5 m of an articulated dinosaurs from its neck vertebrae to possible pelvis.

Great hike, great views deeper down D3. If you want this hike to be challenging. Loop left instead of looping right, you’ll be in for a good one

Counterclockwise seems like the way to go, but it would be interesting to go the other way (steeper on the uphill into the canyon?). Lots of ups and downs- literally and metaphorically. Beautiful setting, awesome trail. Halfway point is the old mining cabin.
Almost drank both Salomon water bottles in my vest- hot out! Calves extremely tight afterwards and stomach hurt quite bit, not sure why. Dehydrated? Hungry? Exhaustion? Probably a combination of all. Drinking nuun, eating crackers/hummus, and resting in the shade of the van.

Nice little walk from our dispersed campsite. The washes always have some interesting finds.

This is far from a difficult hike., not sure why it is rated that. The 700ft elevation is up to the Mesa and includes a minor rock scramble. The hike on the Mesa is flat. Super easy. Gorgeous, gorgeous views of the Colorado River from above. Good for dogs. Directions app are perfect and get you to the trailhead. This is a hiking only trail.
