I couldn’t get a permit for the easier trail down to the river so I chose this hike instead. I was 1 of 3 groups to get a permit for the day so this hike was empty and extra special. Prepare for a solid 2000+ ft scramble down and then back up. As an experienced hiker, this hike got really tiring as you had to fully pay attention at all times not to slip and fall. Most of the trail is shaded with a few spots in full sun. Make sure you bring 3-4 liters on this hike and a water filter to get some water at the bottom. While this hike was super hard, it was incredible to be in the bottom of the canyon looking up.

Great short hike with tons of different scenery around every corner and epic views at the end. Definitely grab a guidebook at the trail head to read about the area with the corresponding markers along the trail.

Hiked from the North Rim Ranger Station to Exclamation Point late morning. Trail was somewhat busy, but went stretches without seeing others, especially further in. Fairly easy hike overall, lots of gradual ups and downs with some amazing overlooks the last third of the trail. Weather was hot and dry, and the trail was very dusty.

Probably my favorite hike that I’ve done. It’s like if a hiking trail and rock climbing cliff had babies. Don’t recommend if you don’t enjoy scrambling up loose gravel

Made it to the base of the painted wall and had the beach all to ourselves! Grueling hike down (my thighs are more sore than I can ever remember) but totally worth it. Epic adventure!
