Great hike. Mostly shaded. Definitely a workoiut as it is about 9 miles and 2000ft of elevation gain. French Trail through the Redwoods is one of the most beautiful trails in the East Bay Regional Park District. Recommend you do the hike in a clockwise direction.

About 9 miles and 1500 ft elevation gain. Start on French and return via Stream. French Trail is one of the prettiest trails in the East Bay Regional Park system. The hike is mostly shaded. You can add a bit more mileage and elevation by taking Bridle Trail all of the way back to Wayside.

This is a very tough hike. About 8 miles and 2000 ft of elevation gain. Carr Ranch Loop Trail is mostly exposed. A lot of uneven footing. There are better trail choices in the area to achieve this type of workout.

Great hike along Rimer Creek and the King Canyon arm of the reservoir.

This is classic bay area hike. Start south of Moraga in a little area called Canyon and end up in Oakland (EBMUD to Redwood Regional Park). Probably would take as long to drive between the 2 locations as it takes to walk the route. At least half shaded. Beautiful redwoods and foliage. Total elevation closer to 1400 ft. Highly recommended.

About 8 miles and 1600 ft of mostly shaded trails in Redwood Regional Park. Today was wet; water coursing over trails and requiring some interesting water crossings. Also saw a few ladybugs near the bench at the Stream trail intersection, but not along the fence line where the signage is in place.

Great workout, plenty of hill and nice views. Due to rain earlier in the week, there were portions of wet sticky clay to trudge through. Made for slippery hill ascents and descents

Very dry time of year. Also, one of the last warm days, but French Trail is nearly all shaded.

Extensive wildlife seen on this loop. Multiple steep sections; difficult. Recommend!

This was a great hike. Respectful day hikers and bikers, with the pandemic or COVID-19 everyone wore a face covering. We started at 9am and took us 2 and a half hours on the French trail.
The stream trail was dry, was looking forward to that. Other than that is was a great hike. I would do it again.

Easy walk mostly on fire roads. Can be dusty and dry in the dead of summer, but there are shady spots and shady route options. The loop down into the gully and through redwood groves is pretty special any time of year but especially interesting in the summer since it’s so much cooler in the trees than on the ridge. Lots to explore. Enjoy
