Nice easy hike to introduce Lassen. Beautiful meadows, cascades, and forest. Highlights include Devils Kitchen and Boiling Lake.

Maybe our first mountain peak together. Definitely the first peak for Llama Bean.

Gorgeous views of Lake Crumbaugh with waterfall and wildflower meadow crossings, culminating in the famed Bumpass Hell. Relatively easy out and back; best late July and early August for wildflower bloom.

Really cool area for hiking and backpacking. We ran into very few people until we got to Cinder Cone (esp. considering it was a holiday weekend). Camping is allowed almost anywhere you want to post up (with a few restrictions). FYI - if you’re backpacking, the loop around cluster lake was hit really hard by the wildfires last year - trees are in bad shape and serious risk for collapse. It was very cool to be hiking through this area and the lake water was still fine to drink, etc. but it didn’t feel safe to camp until we got to little bear lake bc of the falling trees.

Beautiful views from the top. Did this hike in August 2017 and there was snow on the top still.
