Very easy dirt road. Quite a few side trails that are a lot more challenging.

Incredible wildflowers in the burned areas, the lower peaks more impressive than the actual peak

It was a decent hike but I will suggest that you avoid going left where the loop starts unless you bring a machete. Completely overgrown with thorny bushes, mesquite and poison oak. And to top it all off... ticks. Lots of ticks.
Stick to the right and return on the same trail and it is a beautiful hike. The pond isn't spectacular but it is a nice place to relax and listen to the birds and the frogs. Very serene.
