Near Peak is a front range of Chugach Mountains. Parts of trail are steep with sketchy footing. But it’s always a good hike. It offers spectacular views higher up. The hike is 6.5 miles round trip from Prospect Hts. TH.

Good day int the mountains. Great conditions for snowshoeing with sun and nice temps; a little windy on summit.

Easy going, nothing crazy, just a chill walk in the woods. Peaceful.

Pretty stroll up to Hidden Lake for some skating. We had the lake to ourselves. The ice was choppy and slushy.

Great views! Gets very technical on the ridge, not sure if it’s possible to get to Willowa from this side

Little O’Malley to Ballfield to O’Malley to Hidden Lake to Powerline is such a fun route. Good couple of hours of getting outside and away from people 😂……though I miss judged the route and didn’t make it to actual hidden lake. Should of kept following the ridge and around.

Gradual incline on Powerline is tougher than expected. Gave up once I pass the last creek and hiked.

This is a great downhill hike from the Flattop parking area to the Basher Trailhead. Beautiful in summer walking through wildflower meadows. Be bear aware, bring horns and spray. Takes under 3.5 hrs without breaks - about 8 miles.

Small amount of trees right at the start and the rest of the way is super clear with amazing views. Still a little muddy at this time (end of may) but still able to get through.

Lots of snow and some post-holing required on this trip up to Near Point.

Arctic to Indian. Snow conditions great. Party includes Steve Cleary, nick Beasley, Jon Mowery and Ben Armentrout. No crust on decent. Great route with plenty of snow bridges.

Mike Brubaker and I toured the trail between Arctic Valley and Indian Creek on a stellar day. This probably the best one-day point to point ski tour I’ve ever done. Great terrain at Indian Creek Pass. Plenty to ski

A perfect spring snowy day for a hike. We had to shed clothing down to the base layers to stay cool with the intensity of the sunshine once we got above tree line.

A beautiful ridge walk with a view of Rabbit lake, MgHugh lakes, and Turnagain arm. After getting off the ridge and up the pass, the views from the ridge all the way to power line pass are absolutely spectacular. Contouring on the north side of the valley is a nice change from just walking along the hard trail, but only lasts for so long. Game trails and the old road dissipate after a while, forcing you to cross the creek.

Watch for vague trail by tiny spruce tree to angle upward to the high Tarn another 30 min. or less. Next time, go past the way up to Tarn. Instead go on up Valley. Hang a left and get on 5100 ft. Ridge for views into ? middle Fork Valley.

We picked a perfect day to hike this trail which has a tendency to get muddy and overgrown with brush later in the season. Cool temperatures and scattered clouds made the strenuous effort manageable and more enjoyable. We saw about one dozen Dall sheep in the way up across the creek and above us. And about the same number of hikers. We had some difficulty crossing the creek about two miles up and a little bit of muddy hiking, but the trail was better than usual. Amazing views!

Fun hike up Significant Mountain! Really not as bad as everyone told me it was. 4.3 miles one way, 8.6 miles RT at 5 hours. Great hike!

This is steep but beautiful. Still a lot of snow on the trail above tree line (May 2).

It is a favorite hike. While it doesn’t spend much time near the river, it nestles up against the mountain amongst the trees and rocks

Very busy trail, moreso in the afternoon. Followed the ridge to Mt. Baldy and got a beautiful view as the sun started to go down. Decent amount of snow on ridge.

Icy conditions up from the 2nd ridge. On a clear day the view is quite beautiful. Rated difficult for the steep sections and length but it’s not nearly as difficult as a lot of the other Chugach peaks.

I’d attempted this hike in the winter and only made it to the first summit. It seems the first summit is a popular turn around spot at just 1 mile in, with 1000 ft elevation gain. The half mile is a steep, narrow trail through the woods. The incline continues through some high grass. After a period of relative flatness, you begin a steep ascent to the first summit. This was no problem going up, but all three of my friends and I (seasoned hikers) slipped on the scree on the way down. Once at the first summit, it’s worth it to continue along the ridge up to mount magnificent. Beautiful views of eagle river (the town and the river) all along the way. At least 2 glaciers visible in the distance. We encountered a few ptarmigan and my dog went crazy for the ground squirrels. Very quiet trail, close to town. Would recommend! Took us 5 hours round trip at a casual pace.

This is a moderate be difficult trail. It is made more challenging because of the footing. Rocks and roots are plentiful as you scroll through forest. The best feature of the trail Eagle River.

After a short walk along an old road you head up a steep valley trail. The views open up when you get to the saddle. From there you can go up Mt Eklutna, Bear Pt or stroll along the wonderful ridge. We saw a small black bear. But it was doing what bears should do - running the other way

Fantastic views of Eklutna Lake from this trail. The bench spot overlooking Eklutna Lake and the surrounding peaks is superb. From that point it’s only about .9 miles to the next bench with a wonderful view of the twin peaks.

Trail in great shape. Dry at the start. We got into snow a bit before the saddle but no mud. Perfect "steps" in the snow made it easy to get to Peak 2 and the snow was soft enough that coming down was easy and safe. We did have the occasional post hole between Peak 2 and Peak 3. We put our Kahtoola's on for the way down, but it would have been doable without them.
