Once you get to the top of black hill good luck finding the the path that makes it a loop haha. Crossing the streams is a nightmare at times so bring good footwear. Other than that absolutely beautiful

Lovely walking from Hartington to Milldale to Dovedale Steps alongside the river and then back into Thorpe.
Mostly very easy walking with a few hills here and there (it is the Peak District after all).
Absolutely gorgeous.
Very quiet Hartington to Milldale and then the path becomes a highway the closer to Dovedale you get!

Great casual walk. A little challenging elevation but nothing treacherous. Dog friendly and very well signposted.

Great hike for beginners like me. Long descents followed by a mad scramble from Grindleford to Bole Hill quarry that will test the fittest. I didn’t take a backpack and was exhausted by the time I’d reached Owler Tor. Then for one of the many paths down hill to the top of Padley Gorge

I first walked the Pennine Way in 1985 when I was 17. The conditions that day were awful ... torrential rain, a quagmire peat bog and only 1 boot (the first became sole-less after the first mile). Fast-forward 34 years and I’ve repeated the walk. Great weather and views ... thanks to all the work done to protect against erosion the path is now 80% on slabbed path - hard work on the legs and knees but much better than pear bog. I can highly recommend this walk. Stayed at the Old House B&B in Torside ... very comfortable ... before heading on for day 2.
