Auriol range is stunning. We attempted to do the Martha Black Circuit counter clockwise due to ice in the saddle. However, due to a recent and unstable slide on the north side of E3 (fall 2023), we were unable go far enough to see the glacier. However the views were spectacular and the moraines haunting in a beautiful way.

Spectacular views of Kathleen lake and the Kluane valley and mountain ranges. Due to time limits, we did not summit but made it to throne and about a 3rd of the way up the ridge towards the summit. The route after the throne was clear and easy to follow although steep. Loved it!

Stunning view of the Auriol range. Clear trail. Some creek walking on the trail, ankle to calf deep, after KM 6 on the left route. Lovely back country camp site.

Several areas of landslide on Erie Mine Trail with alternative routes. Eventually became fluffed out and not able to continue on. Minus 90 minutes time due to forgetting to end track.

One of my favorite hikes in Alaska! We only had baby spikes to cross and that was easy. Other recommended crampons but baby spikes was enough. Can do without either but you’ll only get so far on the glacier

Beautiful hike especially in the late August when the trees are changing color. The 1.5 hour one way time listed here is very optimistic and reserved for athletes. I've only ever completed the trail to the half way location, the actual Kings throne, which took over two hours. At that location I have met young folks who are returning from the top and claim they got to the top in about 1.5 hours but I think they must have run rather than walk. The section of trail I've experienced is steep with a lot of turns and very loose gravel. For most people I would guess the time to the top from Kathleen lake is three to four hours.
