hiked on 1 august. beautiful weather. took the first shuttle from the sports store in Waterton (forgotten the name). they dropped us off at cameron lake at 8 am. for the first 2 hours had the trail to ourselves. fantastic variety of different terrain. no bugs, few huckleberries. the trail winds through several different terrain types, from forest to burned over areas up and over the divide and down to a series of wonderful lakes. I'm afraid of heights and struggles on one section that had only a narrow path along a very steep scree fields but if I can make it anyone can :) as the day progressed we were passed by some trail runners and guides in training but there were few. morning departures gives you the trail to yourself most of the way. stunning views along the whole path. 🐻🍑✅ on weekdays

Short but gets your heart pumping. Great views of Waterton and Price of Wales Hotel.

Great trail with excellent views from the viewpoint. Above picture of the steps on the trail seems to be outdated as the whole trail is now a gravel path and not an exposed ground.
The 1st half of the trail is mostly a path with a few steps while the 2nd half is mainly steps and is much steeper. There are also a couple of benches along the trail to get some rest if you need it.
It was very windy at the top so a jacket is recommended (and possibly a hat/hoody).

Some snow on the route but not a concern. Lots of wildflowers in bloom. Fun scrambling on the way up (did counterclockwise loop), some down-climbing and lots of scree on the way down. Look for cairns showing the route down. Gave this hike 3 stars only because the amount of scree, otherwise the views were awesome. 7 hours, 1000m elevation gain, 14.5 km.
