AllVery easy gravel/dirt road fairly exposed until you get to do the vertical at the end to the cave. Always nice to do. The snow was packed down and didn’t even need micro spikes on the way up, would recommend on the way down for some trickier sections. We lucked out with only light flurries on the walk in and sun by the afternoon with no wind!

Lots of postpoling and routefinding. Would make a great after work summer outing with long daylight hours.

Wonderful hike with views almost the entire time. Highly recommend. Can also be done easily as a trail run.

Moderate hike. Great views. In the shade for much of Grass Pass and then sun exposure on ridge between G P and Gunnery. Mostly shade and neat creek on way down Gunnery.

Nice hike, good amount of elevation but over a longer distance so it was not difficult. Gorgeous 360 views at the top. Most of the hike is in the trees which was not a bad thing since it was quite hot today.

Great climb to the top of Mesa grind. Starting on curling sand connector. We got off trail s but likely due to dead fall in the path. Climbed and additional hill for lunch then through some clear cut trees raspberry bushes and then back. Love this grunt of a hike

The hike itself is really nice but the Province has closed off the peak of the mountain so there is no shelter and poor views. Very unrewarding for the effort to get there

Very nice hike. Very steep once you leave Powderface trail up to the summit. Then extremely steep descent to complete the loop. Either way to descend would have been sketchy.

Beautiful sunny day on the trail. Temps started at -3C and finished at 2C. Heading in the CW direction, the Powerface Creek section was well compacted from the fat tire bikers. Once onto the Prairie Link section it was quite rutted from only hikers traversing this section. On the return along Prairie Creek, the trail was slushy and muddy in sections but in relatively good shape thanks to the recent snowfall.
The entire loop I did not require the spikes which turned out to be a good test for the new Lone Peak 4.5's - great traction in compact snow trail conditions. Very little traffic today, but the few hikers I did run into were happy to be out enjoying the spring like conditions just as I was!

The trail was nicely compacted by the fat tire bike that were out on the trail ahead of me - a big thanks! Where there was snow, the snow was too sticky to wear spikes as the snow continued to ball up under your mid soles. For the most part this was not an issue, as there was only a few icy sections on some of the switchbacks that you could see in advance. However, there were a number of muddy spots because of the intense heat on the southern exposure sections and the resulting flow.
Skies were blue with a few clouds but very picturesque for the most part. Trail was not busy with a few bikers and a half dozen hikers.

One of my go to hikes close to Calgary when I don’t have allot of time. Went out try out some new trail shoes so didn’t want anything overly taxing. The trail was a mix of compact snow, ice, slush, mud and dry sections. Because of this, spikes were still totally necessary. We are definitely between seasons.
Temperatures were in the low teens and the skies were clear allowing views of Moose Mountain to the west and Powderface Ridge to the southwest. Wish I had worn the shorts! Virtually no traffic on the trail as I only ran into 3 hikers. At the parking lot bikers were soaking up the sun sitting in their lawn chairs and have a post ride beverage. Great day to be out.

This is an arduous but not difficult hiking trail with huge views. To hike it without backtracking requires a car shuttle along the forestry road, but hiking the north half to the high point and returning the same way is equally rewarding.

An arduous hike which becomes very steep towards the top. Exposed and hazardous to hike along top of ridge.

Trail leads thru the trees to the top of this low mountain with huge views. 385-m gain. Possible to walk along ridge both to north and south. Trailhead is NOT marked with any signage.

Long arduous ride up to pass, but easy freewheeling most of the way back down.

All the other parking lots were full so we parked here and started walking. Lightly travelled trail through trees on the less windy side. We didn’t get to a view, but found a nice, sheltered spot to eat. Next time, we will walk further and find a view.

Tried a different route up to Serendipity from Cowbell Crag. Easy ridgetop walking after the excruciating steep climb up from the crag.

There is no denying that it’s relentless on the way up, but it’s only 3.3 km, so just get on it! Amazing views on the way up and once you get to the top. We went up and down in just over 2 hours, with a lunch break at the top. Trail much easier to follow than others in Kananaskis, it’s wide enough to distance yourself from others and while it’s busy, it’s not crazy. High reward for short and intense effort.

South ridge moderate scramble. “Cross” descent. Deep snow for 1 km on exit caused postholing woes.

My hike was a ski. Encountered varied conditions: Icy sled tracks (bring klister) ,heavy wet snow, cold/dry snow (bring wax). Probably last week this can be skied. Suggest doing loop clockwise (up Baril, down Fitzsimmons) due to a breakneck slope coming from pass down to Baril.
