Great hot day hike at 30C. Well shaded moderate inclines. Wonderful forest walk with spectacular falls and pools at the end. River crossing at shin level at beginning and end of trail. Looking forward to hiking this trail in the fall and perhaps winter.

Old Baldy Peak is the less popular "Baldy" and is further south than the popular Mount Baldy scramble.
Hikers can do a There and Back up the creek trail, or they can do a loop by ascending the ridge to the north, crossing the high plateau, and returning via the creek trail.
Fair warning - the creek trail is getting way better after the 2013 floods, but the trail does cross the creek several times. Some sharp eyes and route finding is required.
The Ridge route is the more strenuous approach, as the trail does go straight up the initial ridge, but the views and varied terrain are worth it. There is a large boulder field to cross, and some route finding across a few open meadows.
Scramblers can continue past the plateau, and summit the peak via the ridge.

This hike was beautiful from the start. Hiking in the trees, with added mud to make it interesting, to the trail opening up to a gorgeous meadow was breathtaking! Not a hard hike but if you are looking for beauty then Mount Lipsett is a winner!

Long approach done biking. The hike and scramble from the campground it was a bit of a slog and not particularly fun. Views were nice but I’d not put this one on my list of recommendations.

Great trail! The rocks can be ankle breakers at times though so poles are an asset. Flies are pretty bad at both campgrounds especially at the hottest part of the day. Smoke wasn’t too bad! It would settle in the evening but be gone by morning. Beautiful area

A Hard hike no doubt. But it rewards with breathtaking views. Micro spikes or crampons required. Route icy in steep sections. Hikers without crampons had to butt-slide down sections making it even more slippery.

Short steep hike, with scrambly sections at the top. Be aware of overhead exposure - no helmet needed but don't stop in these spots and be aware of surroundings and people above and below you. Trail was dry at this time with snow at the very top - no spikes needed. Beautiful views. Not a beginner hike.

Gaia was not working with new iPhone update. It would not record in background.
After this trip downloaded new Gaia version.

This was one of my first hikes and I have to say my legs were burning for a couple days. What an amazing workout!
For anyone who likes to climb straight up, this is the trail for you.

Started at 8:10am, back to parking lot at 4:30pm. First 0.3 km steep incline. After that pretty much flat and some steady incline (totally doable). There are about 3 water creeks that you have to pass, however no water is really needed. One has a log set in place. I didn’t get up to the last Piper Pass part because it’s too steep, and probably very slippery on the way down because it’s just loose rocks!!! Too dangerous.
Overall it’s an okay hike, easy-moderate all the way except for the very last steep part up to the mountain! It also has Elbow lake view. It’s a bit too long and bit boring. Pretty tired after this.

Great hike .. relatively easy with only the first ascent to the lake a bit steep.. after that the trails are tame ... After the falls I was heading for Rae Lake .. the trail was hard to find and I had to backtrack a bit using gps ... even then the trail led off the gps map marked trail .. About 1k from Rae Lake I encountered fresh bear scat .. so I aborted as I was solo and hadn’t seen a soul for the last 5k...

Beautiful views, although the trail is a grind. Lots of loose rock and can be easy to lose the trail. Up and down took us 5 hours
