I couldn’t find a track going up from Lake Elysia it’s self so had to bush the first part until I got to a small lake where I found the track markers which is the above gps marks.
From there they were relatively easy to follow up. I started following the track all the way back past the marker at that GPS location but I found it was taking me over towards Lake Ophion so I cut through the bush again back to my camp , but I believe the start of the track may actually be back at lake Ophion.
Not the hardest summit but quite a wet track in parts due to recent rain , the track gets quite narrow in some spots so be prepared to get a bit scratched up. The terrain changes a lot along the way.
There is no scrambling , and I found having poles made the ascent quite fast but they were frustrating in the thick.
At the top was almost like a big flat plateau, with lakes , wild rocket and heaps more to explore. Camping up there would be awesome if the weather was good!
Great views of Acropolis, Geryon, Manfred , Massif , Hyperion, Eros , Macs, Guardian’s, Minotaur.

Really pretty! Saw some wild wombats, the weather changes every 5 minutes, wind, sun, snow, hail. Really snowy up top.

One of the hardest things I’ve done in the middle of winter with snow, rain and hail. Would love to do it again in the shoulder season.

Great day hike. Plan 5h at a decent but not hurried pace. Beautiful scenery and the Hanson Peak stretch is far less busy. Overall medium difficulty for reasonably experienced hikers, about 6–8 steep difficult stretches of up to 30m of exposed rock to scale. Some with ropes. Could be tricky for smaller kids and not recommendable when wet. In dry conditions great. We started up Hanson Peak, which is the direction I’d recommend.

Wombats, stinging hail, beautiful waterfalls, a world heritage area... what’s not to like.
