Trail of Ten Falls
Overview
This is a moderate to difficult loop trail to North Falls Viewpoint in Silver Falls State Park.
This trail goes by South Falls, Lower South Falls, Lower North Falls, Double Falls, Drake Falls, Middle North Falls, Twin Falls, North Falls, and Winter Falls.
In the winter months and during higher flow, many unnamed falls can also be seen along the trail. The trails may also become muddy and/or partially flooded- it is important to bring rain gear and shoes with good traction.
This is a very popular trail that is nearly always crowded, even on rainy days. Please note that dogs are not allowed on the Canyon Trail and are only permitted on the Rim Trail with a leash. Trails are clearly marked with appropriate signage.
Getting Started
Park in the South Falls day use area. Either an Oregon State Parks pass or a $5 day pass is required for each vehicle. Day passes are available from an electronic kiosk (accepts cash or cards) near the restrooms. Simple printed maps are free at this kiosk. Parking lots are typically very crowded, but lots of parking spots exist at the site.
Taking Children
Many hikes in this park are child friendly. Most of the trails lack steep elevation gain though there are several sets of stairs to climb during the hike. Keep an eye on children around slippery area's near waterfall side trails. If length is an issue, a shorter loop may be done via the Winter Falls cutoff.
