Overview
This is a difficult out and back trail in Mount Hood National Forest. Trail climbs along a ridge line, then up the north face of Mt Hood to the top of cooper spur. Keep going all the way until you can touch ice and snow.
This trail goes by Cloud Cap Saddle Campground and Cloud Cap Inn.
Getting Started
Park at cloud cap saddle campground to get started. The road up to cloud cap should be done with higher clearance vehicles, though not impossible in a compact sedan.
Taking Children
Children are fine on this hike as long as caution is observed around some of the ravine edges.

Cooper Spur Trail, Mt Hood, Oregon
This is the highest trail on Mt. Hood that doesn't require climbing. There are incredible views of Elliot glacier from above, Mt Hood itself (NE side, really close), and Mt Adams, Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens to the north as well as Mt Jefferson and the Three Sister to the south. This is one of those must-do hikes in Oregon.

Cooper Spur- Mt. Hood
This hike is definitely a new favorite. Beautiful & colorful trek up the east side of Mount Hood to Elliot Glacier. I highly recommend doing this hike around sunset and catching the view. All peaks surrounding Hood lit up in pink and orange- Mt. Saint Helen, Mt. Adams, Mt. Jefferson
