Bear Mountain
Overview
This is a difficult out and back trail to Bear Mountain in Coconino National Forest. The views are fantastic!
Getting Started
Bear Mountain is a 5 mile round-trip strenuous hike with about 1600 ft of elevation gain located 15 minutes from Sedona. There is a $5 day pass fee required at the trailhead. The route finding on this trail is difficult so I would recommend using a GPS with the trail loaded.
While this hike does not offer many views of the surrounding red rocks that Sedona is famous for it is a very fun hike none the less. This hike offers steep terrain with a lot of scrambling up the rocks. Be prepared with a lot of water and give yourself more time to complete this hike then you would expect. While difficult the hike is very fun and well worth the effort to get to the top!
Taking Children
I would not recommend this hike for children.
