Nuwati Trail
Overview
This is a easy out and back trail to The Hermitage, The Refuge, and Story teller’s Rock. Storyteller’s rock is a short and very narrow and steep climb up a rock to an awesome overlook to view the surrounding mountains. There is a campsite at each of these points. This hike is well worth the diversion. If you desire a longer hike you can add Top Crag View connector trail, if you want to extend your hike.
Getting Started
This trail is accessed most easily by starting at the Boone Fork Parking Area (not to be confused with the Boone Fork Hiking trail that is accessed via Julian Price Park). This parking area is just off the parkway and is a parking lot with maybe 20-30 spaces and fills up quickly, especially in the summer months. It is recommended to arrive early in the morning to get a space. The trailhead is at the end of the parking lot. You will start off on the Tanawha trail for a short bit. That trail leads to the Nuwati trail. The end of the trail will take you by story teller’s rock, which is a steep climb up to a great overlook to the surrounding mountains.other sights worth visiting is the refuge and the hermitage.
Taking Children
This is a good trail for kids of all ages. It has some challenge for them without being too long or difficult.
