Table Rock Mountain via Table Rock Summit Trail
Overview
This is a moderate out and back trail to Table Rock Mountain in North Carolina's Linville Gorge Wilderness. The hike is easy to follow up to the summit and offers incredible panoramic views of the mountains and gorge below. It's popular for sunrise, sunset, and during the fall season to view the peak colors.
Getting Started
To reach Table Rock Mountain, turn off Highway 181 onto Gingercake Road (which then turns into Table Rock Road). It's paved for a section before turning into a gravel road. Follow the signs onto Fs210B for the trailhead. It begins at the far side of the parking lot, furthest away from the bathrooms. There is a kiosk with information.
Taking Children
This is a short but relatively steep hike up to the summit. Use caution at the various overlooks and rock formations as the drop is sheer.
