Poo Poo Point via High School Trail (one-way track)
Overview
This moderate trail starts at the back of the Issaquah High School parking lot and ends at Poo Poo Point, a popular place for para-gliders. This route is a nice alternative to the more popular Chirico Trail, which ends at the same destination. Although this trail is not as steep as Chirico, it is a great conditioning hike.
There is a very small parking lot on Second Ave SE in Issaquah for this trail, but most users park in the back of the Issaquah High School parking area close to the tennis courts. From the High School parking lot, head up a staircase towards the tennis courts. Take the dirt road on the right and proceed south past two trail junctions. Take the third trail junction up the hill. You will come to an open area with a big rock, proceed to the right and up the hill.
You will meander through beautiful old growth forest and take a couple bridges over flowing creeks, until you reach a signed three-way trail junction and the highest elevation of your hike. To the left is the West Tiger Railroad Grade, straight ahead is the One View Trail. Head to the right, where the trail continues to Poo Poo Point, now just a half-mile away.
The trail loses 170 feet of elevation. On a rainy day, poles will be useful as the way down to Poo Poo Point from this trail is steep and can be slippery. Eventually the way levels, and you will pass a very smelly outhouse on your right. The last bit to Poo Poo Point is past this outhouse and to your right. A new outhouse is on the left. There is also a road that wraps around the mountain to your left, but you will not be continuing on this.
