Crowders Mountain Loop via Tower Trail
Overview
This is a popular easy to moderate loop trail to Crowders Mountain along the Backside and Tower Trail in Crowders Mountain State Park.
Getting Started
Park at the Linwood Road Access parking lot to begin this hike. There are restrooms, at the Park Ranger Station, right where the trail begins and no admission or parking fees. The Tower Trail quickly branches into the Backside Trail and Tower Trail. Go Right to the Back Side Trail for a moderate hike up the trail and 300+ steps. Alternatively, go Left to take the less steep, and longer, Tower Trail to the summit. Both lead to the summit of Crowders Mountain, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding area. There are many large rocks at the top to explore and find a good spot to watch the sunset.
Taking Children
This is an easy hike for children, though there is a decent amount of elevation to reach the summit. The trails are wide, well-marked, and easy to follow.
Watch children at the summit. The trail ends and large rock croppings begin. There is no fence or guardrail to protect the edge of the cliff.
