Mt WILSON via Chantry Flat Trailhead. 7.2 miles x 2 ( to and from the Summit ). The best hike I’ve experienced to date. Shaded 87% of the trails. Creek water was crystal clear, clean and soothing cold. There is a restaurant at the Summit called COSMIC CAFE. Beautiful trails... take your girlfriend with you.
Give it a total of at least 8 hours to Summit and return. 3 hours 15 mins to descend and an extra hour minimum for ascending.

This was an amazing hike. Longest I’ve done and yet the best. I’m doing the 6 peaks challenge. I loved the shade. It was hard going up. Took us 7 hours and 15 min. We hung out at the Sturtevant resort. We also did the waterfall as well as parked down the mountain due to the parking lot being closed. Took us just 3 hours to get down. Left the truck at 9:00 and back about 7:15. Long day. I clocked about 15 miles all together.

Mt. Wilson via Sturtevant Trail
This was my first time hiking a mountain in Southern California. It was a lovely and challenging hike from the trailhead in Chantry Flats to the Mt. Wilson summit. Getting down was the tricky part. I did this hike on a cloudy day in November, and right about the time I reached the summit, thick fog rolled in before I could head back down. A kind soul took pity on me as I wandered around the complex on the top of the mountain, and shuttled me back to where I parked. I'll be giving this hike a do-over, next time on a sunny Spring or Summer day. I was looking forward to the view, but other than some lovely fall colors in the trees on the way up, I missed out on the scenery.
