Davenport Mountain Loop (also Deep Gap Trail) via Flat Creek Loop
Overview
Gotta disagree with the "difficult" review the last author wrote. If I can take a 5-, 7-, and 9-year old on a trail, with parents of widely varying skill levels, and not worry for a moment about safety or completing the hike, this trail earns an easy to moderate rating, at best.
With the leaves largely gone in the winter, you will be able to hear the nearby highway -- unfortunately. But otherwise, this is peaceful, not incredibly busy, and well-marked. Great family trail for all levels.
OLD OVERVIEW: This is a difficult loop trail in Georgia.
This trail goes by Davenport Mountain.
Getting Started
Free parking can be found right next to the trailhead.
Taking Children
This hike was very manageable for ages 5, 7, and 9 (and 40s and 50s!). The loop can be trimmed as needed, but if you go counter-clockwise, much of the uphill is at the beginning (my favorite way to traverse with kids). This earns a 9/10 for kids. SAFE. Not ideal for strollers, though.
