Overview

This is a moderate out and back trail to the Teepee and Paradise Falls in Wildwood Regional Park in Thousand Oaks California.. The tepee and falls is the biggest attractions in the park. A year round waterfall is very uncommon in the area so this is a novelty. On this hike you'll be hiking down into a canyon and then up to get out. It is steep enough to be a strenuous climb for many people. The park has excellent rocky scenery.

Getting Started

There is a free dirt parking lot at the end of Avenida De Los Arboles. The park is popular but normally there are spaces in the parking lot. If it's full you can park in the surrounding neighborhood, but carefully following the parking signs. Park hours are 7AM to Dusk, and they can lock the gate to the parking lot so plan appropriately. From the parking lot you'll head west on a wide flat fire road and then turn left on a trail down to the tepee. The tepee is a large wood/steel concrete shade there are blocks to side on but not much in the way of facilities. . It you head west from there after a short while you'll make another left and head down so stair cases to the falls. You can go down to the pond below the falls. The hike also takes you a little way along the stream feeding the waterfall. Retrace back to your car. The park has lots of trails as so you have alternatives to returned like continuing on from the falls and making a left and going back to the tepee. Or you can continue on and take the Indian Creek trail back to Avenida De Los Arboles.

The park web site: http://www.crpd.org/parkfac/parks/wildwood.asp does not specifically state a dog policy but dogs aren't usually seen in the park. There are some facilities, see the web site, but they aren't necessarily convenient.

Taking Children

Fun things to do, not real long. Lots of wide trails. It does has some well maintained stair cases. Bathrooms at the bottom. The only issue would be that it is a strenuous climb out and so you might be carrying the little ones.

This is an alternate route for Paridise Falls via Moonridge Trail.
