Overview
This is a difficult out and back trail to Lower Blue Lake in Uncompahgre National Forest. This trail is very popular during the summer. There are additional trails connecting above blue lakes pass.
You will see wildflowers and waterfalls along the way. This is a fragile alpine environment please stay on the trail and practice leave no trace principles.
Getting Started
Consider carpooling with others. The parking area is small and fills up quickly.
Taking Children
No exposure until above blue lakes on blue lakes pass. Jeep 4x4 access is possible from Camp Bird Road but will require a hike over the pass to the lakes.

super steep and super hard entire way to lower lake, esp for someone who doesn’t get to hike a ton…but it was worth it. i managed the scamper up to the viewpoint above lower lake, and def recommend doing that for the view. getting back down to the car was a knee-breaker, but take the day, take your time and enjoy!!

Camped a few miles down the road. Hiked to first lake. 1:45 up 1:15 down. Rained heavily around 12:30pm.
