Overview

This 19 km loop is a strenuous day hike that travels through new growth forest from a fire in 2003. The Mountain Goat trail from the parking lot to Divide and Baker lakes is the most popular section of the trail that offers wonderful views of Okanagan lake. This first section is in far better condition than the Frederick Creek Wildhorse Canyon portion which is difficult to follow is places and very overgrown with brush in others. Don't expect crowds out here.

This is a moderate one way trail in Okanagan Mountain Provincial Park.

This trail goes by Divide Lake, Okanagan Mountain, and Baker Lake.

Getting Started

Travel north from Penticton on Naramata road and keep right at Naramata onto North Naramata Road. Turn right at chute lake road and in 4.7km. turn left to Okanagan Mountain Park. The 1.5 km. access road to the parking area is quite rough so a little extra clearance is nice but not absolutly necessary. It is possible to park at chute lake road a walk in to the parking area.

Taking Children

This hike has steep rough sections and would not be suitable for young children.

The trail is in good condition from the parking lot to Baker Lake. It is difficult to follow in a few spots along Frederick Creek. The Wildhorse Caynon section is extremely overgroan with brush in some areas but is still easy to follow.
