Stacker Butte
Overview
This is a moderate out-and-back trail to Stacker Butte in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. The trail follows a service road for the entire route.
Walk past the gate and follow the road uphill. A wide variety of wildflowers bloom alongside the road and on the surrounding slopes in April and May. The road makes several switchbacks. There are no trees here so on a clear day views include Mt. Hood, Mt. Jefferson, and the Columbia River.
Pass the first set of communication towers on your right and keep going. After 2.5 miles reach the summit where a large complex of communications equipment is located. Now you get views to the north including Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens, and Mt. Rainier. It is often windy up here, so prepare accordingly.
Getting Started
The trailhead parking is located next to a signboard at a gate. There is room for about six cars.
