Whiskey Spring from Miners Summit
Overview
In order to start this trail, one must first reach the trail from the Peralta Trailhead via either the Dutchman Trail or the Bluff Spring Trail and connecting to the Dutchman trail. From the saddle just below Miners Summit, the train depends gradually and first and then more quickly to the Whiskey Spring Canyon drainage. Once at the bottom of the canyon, you will be in fairly thick mesquite groves. There are parts of the trail the trees almost form a tunnel over you. The trail crosses the dry creek bed a number of times. The spring itself is a concrete tank in the creek bed.
Getting Started
The Peralta Trailhead is very popular and often will fill up. There are parking areas a half mile or so down the road if needed.
Taking Children
It is a long hike to the spring and back. Taking small children is probably not a good idea.
