Sycamore Reservoir Trail
Overview
This is a moderate out and back trail in Coronado National Forest. It it approximately 2.3 miles each way to Sycamore Reservoir from the Gordon Hirabayashi campgrounds. The trail is well marked and easy to follow. It is moderately steep in some places with several rocky areas, particularly on the half of the trail closest to Sycamore Reservoir. Given the distance, inclines/declines, and rocky areas, it isn't recommended for new hikers.
Getting Started
The Gordon Hirabayashi Campgrounds are fee use facilities for day or overnight; however, there is non-fee parking just off the Mt. Lemmon Highway before the fee use area.
The trailhead is at the far end of the campgrounds, a short walk from the non-fee parking area.
There are non-flush toilets at the campgrounds.
Taking Children
This is a big hike for smaller children, but I wouldn't hesitate to take a 12-14 year old who likes hiking.
