Dripping Springs Trail
Overview
Enjoy the close up beauty of the Organ Mountains? This is a easy out and back trail that has a few remaining beautiful historic structures dating back to the late 1800's. Surround yourself in history, flowers, and shape filled peaks while enjoying some slight cool breezes cutting through mountains.
Getting Started
The Dripping Springs Natural Area is located 10 miles east of Las Cruces, on the west side of the Organ Mountains. From Exit 1 on Interstate 25, take University Avenue/Dripping Springs Road east to the end. Upon parking walk over to the visitor center and pay for your day use pass.
Trail can get packed early summer mornings and parking can be limited so be sure to get there at a decent hour if planning on a morning hike.
Taking Children
This is an easy hike with both loose gravel, and sand through out the trail. Children under 12 can complete this trail but should be closely supervised as during summer snakes tend to come across the trail. Also, keep an eye out for mountain lions as they are common around the area.
