Kirk Hill Loop
Overview
This is a moderate loop trail in Custer Gallatin National Forest.
There are three loops on this hike, and you can do them in any direction you choose. The trail is well marked, with maps that indicate the various loops.
Most of the hike is through covered forest, making this a great summertime hike. The initial ascent can be steep, but switchbacks make it manageable.
There are multiple viewpoints providing great vistas of Gallatin Valley.
Getting Started
The parking lot isn't huge, and this is a highly trafficked trail, so it sometimes helps to get here early.
Taking Children
A great hike for kids, especially because you can make it as short or long as you like. The initial steep ascents are manageable if you take your time.
This is an alternate route for Kirk Hill Loop.
